Hi, I’m Jacque and I have been involved with Proactive Martial Arts since
the very beginning in one way or another, although not actually training until I had children who were old enough to cope with watching their mum and dad.
So when our son was 6 and our daughter 4, I started and so did they. I
helped teach from the word go as my daughter was so young, and
I had been sitting watching my husband train for so many years that I was
quick to pick it up. Consequently I am a mature student and I have been
training for about 8 years, and more recently obtained my 2nd degree black belt – which I have to admit is the one grading I had always dreaded. I was never quite sure whether I would make it through the whole grading. After seeing quite a few of them over the years it seemed pretty daunting at my age, but I am pleased to say that I am very happy that I did.
My husband and I, after a lot of careful thought, decided to franchise and open Proactive Martial Arts Templeton. It has probably been the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life [besides my husband and children of course]. We have been open for three years and have 130 students on the floor. It is so wonderful and also humbling to see people change and grow over time, both children and adults.
So basically since opening the Templeton Club, martial arts has become more and more part of our life and we are really enjoying it. It definitely makes life busy, especially when you have a family, but our children are involved as well and they also help teach in the kid’s classes.
So onward and upward, I feel I still have so much to learn and so much to give.
