Orange and over will be from 8:10pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. This will also mean that Richard can also help in the beginner’s class. This is starting from Wednesday the 6th of June.

Our first Panthers Gathering for 2007 is on Sunday 24th June at Riccarton. With close to 100 for this event registered all ready its going to be a full on afternoon.  This event will go up to junior black belt.

No training at Riccarton on Queens Birthday Monday 4th June. If this is one of your normal training days you can make it up by training at one of the other Proactive clubs.

We had a good afternoon with Master Andy Elliot going over empty hand skills and sticks and bladed weapons. The four hours went to fast and next time we will need more time to cover everything. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with some good friends from other styles. It’s fantastic to see so many more styles all getting together on a regular bases now and sharing information as it comes to hand.

After last weekends successful ZDK grading it was the Kick boxers turn today with over 40 on the floor and our first higher rank grading for many years. Some of the higher ranks started with their 5K run before moving inside for the technique component. Everybody put in a fantastic effort with Sean moving through to purple and Campbell going through to green. Considering some had just graded last weekend as well in ZDK it did require that bit more effort to dig deep for the energy to keep going. Well done to everybody and to the best on the day awards. We look forward to our next big Kickboxing grading at the end of the year, but there will also be a lower rank grading before then.

Master Andy Elliot seminar

Grandmaster Ernesto Presas was among the first to modernise the classical Filipino systems to include traps, disarms, takedowns & grappling & translate the movements into a formidable weapon (Kali – Arnis), hand to hand (Mano Mano) & grappling (Dumog) fighting system called Filipino Kombatan Arnis.

Filipino Kombatan Arnis is a complete system comprising of various classical & modern fighting styles used in the Philippines of hand to hand & weapon combat, incorporating empty hand moves based on the same motions used in weapon fighting. The weapon is just an extension of the hand. All ranges & all areas of fighting are covered, teaching the student to react instinctively & flow.

Filipino Kombatan Arnis compliments any other martial art!

SEMINAR WILL COVER

· KALI / ARNIS – ARMED COMBAT (STICKS & BLADED WEAPONS)

This Saturday 19 May at 10:30am we have our mid year Kickboxing grading at Riccarton. Those going for Yellow and Orange grades need to be there by 10:15am and those going above that need to be there at 9:45am for the pre run. Any questions phone, or ask at training this week.

Well done to everybody who graded today. Good effort put in buy Dai Sempai Carl and Jeff on 2nd Dan and to the black belts whom done extremely well on their ground skills. Must not forget to congratulate the South Islands first ever-female Sensei for ZDK, Sensei Anna. A well deserved rank with all the teaching and extra effort Anna has put in to promote and grow the style over the years.

I will get photos up soon from the grading.

It’s been great to see some new faces down at Linwood and numbers starting to grow. I am going to be taking classes at Linwood for some time yet as I really enjoy the training down there. Feel free to visit if you wish.

All the best to those grading. Remember you only get out of it what you put into it, so give it your all. I know it’s going to be a high standard, and it’s going to be great to see the new ground skills in play for the higher ranks.
